CRYSTALS FOR MOTHERS

Updated: Feb 27, 2019

These are a few of my favorite stones and crystals for mothers.

The best stones and crystals for mothers

A personal story:

Motherhood has been the most challenging and rewarding adventure of my life. I'll be honest: some days are HARD. Some days I feel like I have nothing left to give. Like I've reached down into the deepest part of my self to find every ounce of energy, patience, and love that exists within me and it just isn't quite enough. But every time that I think that I've reached a breaking point, I find that I have to dig a little bit deeper. And the next time, I come back a little bit stronger. I don't do it perfectly. Motherhood has stretched me physically, mentally, and emotionally in ways that I didn't know that I could stretch. But it has been such an incredible opportunity to learn about personal growth and unconditional love that I will never be able to express my gratitude for.

This is my daughter, E. This face is what makes the hardest of days so incredibly worth it. Because I know that even when I feel like I'm failing, she still thinks I'm doing a pretty darn good job. I know that I am. But I have my struggles just like so many of you have shared with me, which led me to writing this post to share a few things that have helped me over the last few years.

The Best Stones and Crystals for Mothers

On the days that I'm feeling DONE and ready to throw in the towel, I find myself reaching for a few of my favorite crystals to support me in motherhood. Here are a few of the qualities that I feel like I need the most support with in those tough times, and the crystals that I reach for to help me. Maybe you mamas will relate with some of these:

• Patience • Because, let's be honest, what tests our patience more than a baby that won't sleep, a toddler having a meltdown, or a teenager with ALL OF THE SASS.

Stones for patience: aquamarine, larimar, peach moonstone, rose quartz

• Love • Because OF COURSE we love our children. But sometimes the overwhelm and exhaustion take over and we need a reminder that love trumps everything. And because sometimes the one that we need to show the most love to is ourselves.

Stones for love: kunzite, pink tourmaline, rose quartz

• Understanding • Because I will never understand what goes on in the mind of a toddler, but I have to remember that she is doing her best at navigating what it's like to grow up and feel all of the feelings. Just like I am.

Stones for communication/understanding: amazonite, aquamarine, clear quartz, lapis, turquoise

• Flexibility • Because things don't always go our way. And sometimes you have to pick your battles and choose to do things a different way.

Stones for flexibility/balance: amethyst, kyanite, rainbow moonstone, pink tourmaline

• Compassion • Because having compassion for my child and compassion for myself are equally important.

Stones for compassion: amazonite, clear quartz, dioptase, rhodochrosite, rose quartz, tangerine quartz

• Self Care • Because when you're focused on taking care of someone else, it can be easy to put your own needs aside. But self care is NOT selfish, and sometimes I need to remind myself that I'm no good to anyone else if I'm not taking care of myself.

Stones for self love / self care: kunzite, pink tourmaline, rhodochrosite, rose quartz, sunstone

• Energy • Because all you mamas know that it's exhausting. It just is.

Stones for energy: carnelian, clear quartz, fire agate, ruby, sunstone

• Grounding • Because you can't do everything and be everything all at once, and it's important to ground your energy to help you stay focused and centered.

Stones for grounding: black tourmaline, labradorite, obsidian, smoky quartz

MY TOP 5 FAVORITE CRYSTALS FOR MOTHERS

Here are my favorite stones for mothers in general:

The Best Stones and Crystals for Mothers
rainbow moonstone • sunstone • peach moonstone • larimar • labradorite

Rainbow Moonstone

Rainbow moonstone is a great companion to assist through change. And the one thing that I've learned is that motherhood is constantly changing. It is said to help regulate the emotions, and be supportive in all things related to birth: conception, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum. It is also said to help balance the hormones and may help alleviate symptoms of PMS. And it strengthens your intuition by teaching you to tap into and listen to your inner knowing, which I think is SO important as a mother. I know that it was really important for me to learn how to listen to my intuition and my body during pregnancy and birth, and it's something that I'm still working on years later. (Also, fun fact, this is the one stone that I brought with me to the hospital when I gave birth to E!)

Larimar

Larimar is wonderful for mothers during and after pregnancy. It can help ease the transition postpartum, and support you through postpartum depression or anxiety. It can also lessen the stresses associated with new parenthood. I love this stone for fathers as well, because becoming a parent is such a huge shift for men too, and larimar's balanced energy can soothe all of the emotions that can come up as well as support healthy communication between parent and child and between partners. Communication is huge for me, and I love any stone that has the added benefit of helping me articulate my thoughts and feelings more clearly.

Sunstone

Sunstone is said to restore sensuality, help increase mental clarity (mom brain, anyone?), and may ease pains associated with menstrual cramps. Sunstone also reminds us that we must care for ourselves in order to be of service to others, which I think is absolutely necessary to be the best moms we can be. Sunstone also brings joy, and can uplift the spirits even in the toughest of times.

Peach Moonstone

Peach moonstone has extremely peaceful and calming energy. It is great for mothers with sensitive or high energy children, as the energy extends to create a calming shield around the wearer and can help dissolve scattered energy around it.

Labradorite

This last one isn't specifically a favorite of mine just for mothers, but I thought that it was important to add a grounding stone into the mix. I know that I personally struggle with feeling like I'm all over the place, and have a hard time getting everything done that I'd like to. It's hard to work from home and feel like I'm focusing enough energy on my daughter, my business, myself, and my laundry (I'll give you one guess which one I put off the most often!), so labradorite helps me protect my energy and feel a little more centered and stable. It's a personal favorite of mine because it also helps enhance intuition, but any grounding stone that resonates with you is a great one to have around. (Typically most brown, black, or grey stones tend to be grounding.)

There you have it! This is by no means a comprehensive list, but a grouping of some of my personal favorites that I've worked with the most over the years.

I'd love to hear from you! Do any of these qualities / stones resonate with you?

Until next time.

Always sending love,

Bella
